Sree Mangala Vinayakar Temple

Vinayaka Nagar, where Sree Mangala Vinayakar Temple is situated, is one of the oldest residential colonies of Thiruvananthapuram. It is situated in Neeramankara lying between NH 66 and the Karamana river, It is predominantly habited by middle class Tamil brahmin community.

The Mangala Vinayakar Temple and the Advaitha hall complex in the present set up are the result of the toil of the predecessors and the present generation of the colony.

The Temple and the Advaitha hall were originally under the Vinayaka Nagar Association. From 1st April 2022, the Temple and the Advaitha hall complex are  managed by Sree Mangala Vinayakar Temple Trust.

THANTRY & POTTY

From November, 2002, the Thantry of the temple is Brahmasree Vasudevan Bhattathiripad  of Thiruvalla; who took over on the demise of his father Brahmasree Parameswaran Bhattathiripad. The pottis who perform daily pooja of the temple are Uduppi Thulu brahmins. The main pottis so far were Sri. Srinivasan Potti, Subbarayan potti, MS Krishna Das and the present Potti is  Srinivasan Potti. Similarly, the grama vadhyar for performing Vasordhara, Bhagavathi seva and leading the Mandala kala sahasra nama japom etc. was Brahmasree Harihara Vadhyar and on his demise, Shri. Vaidyanatha Sarma.

REGULAR POOJA

There is Ganapathy homam on every day morning and neeranjanam on every Saturday evenings. Viseshal pooja (earlier known as Ekadina pooja), and Viseshal abhishekom are performed almost on all the days, as offerings of the devotees.

There is Rudram-Chamakom japom with Laghunyasam and Genosopanishad on every day morning when there is special abhishekom and on those days when there is no special abhishekom, there is rendering of Bhagya sooktham and Ganesopanishad in the morning. On the evenings, there would be chanting of Ganesa sahasranamam and Genosopanishad.

Women devotees would chant Skandasashti kavacham on Tuesdays, Narayaneeyom on Thursdays and Lalitha sahasranamam on Fridays. On every Saturday evenings, there would be Thirupugazh bhajan.

Under the auspices of Mangala Vinayaka Kshethra Japa Mandali, there would be Ganesha sahasranama archana  on  every Sankata hara charthurthi day, and Pushpabhishekom  on every Sukla paksha Chaturthi day.  Eka dasa raudra japom is being conducted monthly by the Japa Mandali consecutively from 2008 (So far we have conducted 172 such japoms in 12 rounds in the temple.  Similarly, there would be sahasra nama japom and upanishd parayanam in the evenings on the first day of every Malayalam month.

The details of poojas regularly performed are:

Ganapathy homam, Viseshal abhishekom, Visheshal pooja, sahasranama archana and Ashtothara archana, In addition, Neerajanam is offered on Saturdays.

Other items of vazhipadu done at the request of the devotees include Pushpabhiskkom, venna / chandanam charthal, Anki charthal. Thulabharom, Vidyrambhom, Thakkol pooja etc. are also performed on demand. The items of nivedyom  are Modakam, Appom, Vada, Chundal, Aravana, Paal payasom etc.

ADVAITHA HALL COMPLEX

The Temple has an Advaitha hall complex consisting of a spacious hall, two dining halls, another mini hall, kitchen, two rooms, one dressing room  and allied facilities which is being used for conducting religious functions and  being let out  for preforming functions such as Upanayanam, Seemantham, Shashtiabdapoorthy, Sathabhishekom, Birth day celebrations etc.
